Join Woodland Pattern at a special advanced screening of Howl, the new film celebrating Allen Ginsberg and his landmark incantatory epic poem. Presented by the Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival, the screening will be at the UWM Union Theatre.

Directed by acclaimed documentarians Rob Epstein (The Times of Harvey Milk) and Jeffrey Friedman (The Celluloid Closet), and starring James Franco as the young Allen Ginsberg, Howl is a hybrid of biopic, declaration, and animation that chronicles Ginsberg, as he finds and claims his poetic voice, and the 1957 obscenity trail that tried to silence him. Co-sponsored by the UWM Union Theatre and co-presented with Milwaukee Film, this special advanced screening - shared in anticipation of Banned Book Week is presented with Woodland Pattern Book Center, the Milwaukee Public Library, and the ACLU of Wisconsin Foundation.
