(Soma)tic poetry rituals provide a window into the creative viability of everything around us, initiating an extreme present. A crystal will be provided for each student and we will program the crystals to speak through the walls and books of Woodland Pattern, giving us new language for our poems. These are poems we will translate from both the intradimensional and the interdimensional. (The crystals were charged on the roots of Emily Dickinson’s giant trees in her Amherst backyard).

With (Soma)tic rituals we learn how even in crisis we can thrive through the poems, as well as learn to collaborate in unexpected ways with other artistic disciplines. Soon we will all agree with Alice Notley when she writes, “poetry’s so common hardly anyone can find it.”

Two sample crystal poetry rituals here and here

CAConrad will also give a reading at 7 pm on Saturday, May 23. The reading is FREE for workshop participants.
