Boolah Hayes' figurative assemblages made from found objects will be exhibited alongside Steve Nelson-Raney's photographs, photograph collages, and photographic drawings October 1 - November 30, 2009. An opening reception will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009; 6-8pm.
Boolah Hayes
Boolah Hayes' figurative collages are made up of distressed and discolored valentines, which are assembled with found objects, original song lyrics, and other miscellaneous items. Inspired by an experience Boolah had at the Blue Canary, a now vacant dance club, Boolah's "Assemblages" tell the story of several individuals who were in attendance that night, almost 9 years ago.
Steve Nelson-Raney
Steve Nelson-Raney creates specifically designed 'packets' that contain a series of mounted thematically related photographs. A composer in various mediums, Nelson-Raney has utilized the book form in hundreds of works that have included text, photography, drawing, painting and collage. This exhibit features groups of photo collages, photographic drawings, and single photographs from the 'packets' series.
