Director of Marketing & Special Events

 

Woodland Pattern Book Center is looking to hire a full-time Director of Marketing and Special Events.

 

Woodland Pattern Book Center is dedicated to the discovery, cultivation, and presentation of contemporary literature and the arts.

 

Position Objective: Woodland Pattern is seeking a full-time Director of Marketing and Special Events who will work with the Executive Director, staff, and board of directors to:

  • Implement the organization's strategic marketing plan
  • Identify new audiences to expand local and national reach
  • Lead fellow staff in organizing five annual special events

Duties

 

Promote all Woodland Pattern activities––including the bookstore, readings and performances, educational programs, and special events––through direct mail, e-newsletter, social media, flyering, advertising, press releases, public service announcements, etc. Promote the organization as a whole.

 

Create, design, and proof all marketing materials including newsletter, postcards, e-newsletters, posters, advertisements, and brochures.

 

Manage social media efforts. Maintain and update the website, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and the Woodland Pattern blog. Develop and maintain a presence on other relevant social media platforms.

 

Plan and implement the Poetry Marathon & Benefit, Edible Books Show, Locust Street Festival Community Ties Raffle, and the November Anniversary Gala.

 

Represent Woodland Pattern Book Center at off-site events in the community and share bookstore retail hours with other Woodland Pattern staff. Hours include weekends and evenings.

 

Regularly attend Woodland Pattern events and staff meetings.

 

Maintain and archive digital and physical files.

 

Depending on skills and interests, there will be areas for creative development that aren’t listed here.

 

Coordinate weekend and special event volunteers.

 

Perform other duties as needed.

 

 

Ideal Skills and Qualifications

 

3-5 years of experience with marketing and/or non-profits preferred.

 

Experience with coordinating and executing plans in organizing and communications.

 

Collegial, team-oriented working style with a willingness to share in both strategic thinking and administrative tasks.

 

Strong writer with demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communications.

 

Experience using social media for promotional purposes.

 

Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, InDesign, Photoshop, and Salesforce CRM.

 

Ability to meet deadlines and see projects through to completion.

 

Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and precise.

 

Bachelor's degree required.

 

 

Start Date: November 7, 2017

 

Pay Rate, Benefits and Terms: This is a professional position, full-time permanent, eligible for health insurance.
