Michelle Taransky's first book, Barn Burned, Then, was selected by Marjorie Welish for the 2008 Omnidawn Poetry Prize. She lives in Philadelphia where she works at Kelly Writers House and teaches poetry at Temple University.
Michelle Taranksy's visit is the first in series of Woodland Pattern 30th Anniversary programs to celebrate the contributions of women artists to Woodland Pattern's history and future legacy. These women reflect lifelong commitments to the arts regardless of current trends and help expand understanding and appreciation of diverse art forms.
Over the past 30 years, the creativity of womenadministrators, visual artists, writers, editors, publishers, and musicians has played an important role in our mission: to be dedicated to the discovery, cultivation and presentation of contemporary literature and the arts. Each residency will be commemorated with the publication of a broadside created by the visiting writer/artist/musician in collaboration with Woodland Pattern.
This program is made possible with generous assistance from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation - Mary L. Nohl Fund |
