Book Release Reading for Bloodroot.
Sally Tolan graduated from Wellesley College in 1948. In 1970 she
earned an MA in English at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where
she taught writing until retiring in 1991.
She was a volunteer in fundraising and newsletter editor at the
Benedictine Center (a criminal justice organization) and served on
their board of directors in the 1990’s. Before that she was a board
member of Milwaukee Mental Health Consultants; was active in Beyond War
(a peace organization); and served on a planning council for the Urban
Ecology Center. She is currently fundraising chair at Woodland Pattern.
She has written articles, edited three children’s books and wrote a
biography of John Muir, published in 1990. She started writing poetry
in a workshop taught by Angela Peckenpugh in 1980. Her poems have been
published in The Five-petaled Blossom, The Wisconsin Poet’s Calendar,
and Lake Park Lion.
Tolan is the mother of six and grandmother of ten. She lives in
Shorewood. |
