Book Release Reading for Bloodroot. Sally Tolan graduated from Wellesley College in 1948. In 1970 she earned an MA in English at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where
She was a volunteer in fundraising and newsletter editor at the Benedictine Center (a criminal justice organization) and served on their board of directors in the 1990’s. Before that she was a board member of Milwaukee Mental Health Consultants; was active in Beyond War (a peace organization); and served on a planning council for the Urban Ecology Center. She is currently fundraising chair at Woodland Pattern. She has written articles, edited three children’s books and wrote a biography of John Muir, published in 1990. She started writing poetry in a workshop taught by Angela Peckenpugh in 1980. Her poems have been published in The Five-petaled Blossom, The Wisconsin Poet’s Calendar, and Lake Park Lion. Tolan is the mother of six and grandmother of ten. She lives in Shorewood. |
